I received my first “proof” copy of Call of Kayden in the mail today. It was pretty cool seeing it in in print form for the first time. I found a few formatting issues that I plan to correct, but overall it turned out really good.
Cover: Cover looked really good but need to improve centering of my name.
Spine: Don’t really like the layout/design on that. May need to spice up the graphics on it some.
Back: Turned out pretty good. May have some space for more content if I want to add it.
Inside: Too much header space used that is white space. Easy to correct. Also think I want to add a coming soon section at the end of the book where promote the next book. Still trying to decide if should print the next book’s prologue versus just the book summary.
Next steps are to make the referenced changes and get print number two. Once I see a copy that is all the way ready, then it will be ready to publish.
It is really amazing how easy and fast it is to get a printed book. The formatting requirements in MS Word are pretty exacting, but once you get it laid out, you can turn around a first printing in less than a week.
